And So It Begins - Part Two

In the State of Oregon the upland bird season starts seven days after the opening of the deer season.  Most of those that live east of the city of Portland think it's a stupid move on the State, but typical for the geniuses that inhabit the halls of Oregon government (read: govment).

But we adjust.  Because we must.

Opening morning at the ranch was about the same as its always been.  The corn drivers sought direction from the field generals and were pointed in the right direction, even though the corn was too high and too deep and too big.  (Growers have more corn in the ground this year than other due to the high price.)

Joe Dog and I got the assigned to hunt the perimeter with Mr. T, a gentleman and a consummate sportsman.  The other group split into two sections, with one driving through what corn they could and the other blocking..

(Note:  Some of the photos is this post were taken by Mr. T.  If any are used in commercial publications I'll give him the credit...but not the money...he'll squander it in Argentina dancing the tango.)

Mr. T. has had the good fortune of hunting worldwide and knows his stuff.  It was a great pleasure to stomp the weeds with him and the Joe Dog.

Throughout the morning we worked the brush and hay fields.

We worked them hard and with success due to the astuteness of the dog and our dead on shooting.  (Braggin' rights)

It couldn't have been a better day.
There was even a chance to take a break and survey the whole shootin' match, of which we took top honors.

And so there you have it.  A snapping clear day in Willow Creek.  A good hunt behind a good dog.  You can't ask for a better day.

There it is.  Stay tuned.
